Pop icon Michael Jackson has died this morning at UCLA Medical Centre after suffering a cardiac arrest.

3 News will be running live updates throughout the day, giving up to the minute reports on the reaction and aftermath of the tragic death.

9:15am First reports that Michael Jackson has suffered a cardiac arrest.

Paramedics are called to Michael's Holmby Hills mansion and perform CPR on the star at the scene.

He is then rushed to UCLA Medical Centre where doctors continue to try and revive Michael.

10:19am Websites begin to report that Michael Jackson has died in hospital.

11:22am Major websites around the world crash with the news of Michael's passing.

Twitter begins reporting site crashes as it struggles with the news flow and overload of tweets.

AOL-owned TMZ.com (which broke the story) report being down at multiple times throughout the morning.

The LA Times goes down after they confirm Michael's passing.

11:30am Massive crowds gather outside the hospital, Sky News reports that people worldwide are rushing to airports to buy immediate tickets to LA.

11:35am An LA coroner confirms Michael Jackson has died.

11:40am Uri Geller (close friend of Michael) makes a statement to CNN.

"Like the whole world, I am also devastated and expected him to come to England to do the concerts he had booked. He was the best man at my wedding - I can't go on talking right now, I am absolutely shocked. I have to contact his family."

11:43am Video images are released on Sky TV of paramedics attending Michael's home when he initially collapsed.

11:45am TMZ.com reports scenes of "chaos" outside the LA hospital where Michael died.

Fans crowd on the streets outside the UCLA Medical Centre where Michael died, with cries of "You must save him!", "Please save him!".

11:53am Uri Geller talks live to Sky TV, telling of the stress Michael was under in his last days.

11:58am Mr Geller talks of Michael's deep loneliness.
